| is it me or this buildings looking rather bulky this morning? ;-) |
Piacenza was beautiful, a lot of old castles and churches, and people smiled so much at me.Also finally seeing some cyclists, and today in totally I saw three guys similarly equipped to me(racing bike, bags on back&front, sleeping bag etc) and they were happy to see me,waved&"ciao"-ed me
| funny but are proportions of this church and this smart virtually the same?? or am I tired ;-) |
And I had a host from Couchsurfing tonight, from 18:30 to 6am,because in the morning he leaves to visit his family(yes, somewhere in the mountains). That's still great because I don't have to worry about a bed, and then I called my parents, turns out they found a hostel for 15€/night(shared room, but I am doing this trip precisely to MEET PEOPLE) and since I was given money by people I met on my way,and I haven't tested a single day yet, tomorrow night is hostel time.Actually I shouldn't be explaining myself, I have done around 2800-2900km so far,I deserve a rest day(for like the rest of my life xD).
I met with my host Jacob,as non-italian as that name sounds, he is Italian,a office worker, and in free time he's a part of an app start-up ZEGO,much faster, simpler, and short distance blablacar styled app,it's developed and in use now,so I thinks that's cool.City full of offices, start ups and all sorts of different people(this is nice already)
He offered to walk me around the city centre, which was like 4km from his flat,we walked till almost 23:00, and it's amazing, the city has modern and old part, the bank of Italy,Da Vinci inspired museum, green skyscraper (balconies with trees, and grapevine, and flowers,SOOOO cool) all these historical arcs, old gothic (it looks to me) cathedral, and few smaller ones as well, the theater,I know I know, you cam notice I don't know a s**t about Milan's history or monuments, but do I need to know to enjoy seeing the architecture?actually,NO.And shops full of modern art, streets full of beautiful graphitties on the walls, some avenues are simply impossible to cross because they have famous bars where all the people stop to drink after work, and the stand in crowds, they don't sit, there are no chairs, just imagine a 7m wide avenue full for people talking,it looks like a demonstration, but oh these people!!
Fancy and very weird clothes, everyone want to stand out with their style, hair, shoes, bag, bike, anything,so there is plenty of totally different styles, also so many Asian people, some Russians, some Polish as well (surprised I was), and of course everyone tried to be fit,or at least not fat,and that's amazing because I see them drinking beer and eating pizza/bread/fires/hamburgers in all of the places I pass, and my host told me here you pay from 8-20 € for drink, and then get food for free as you continue drinking,so that's weird. Then in the older part of the city there are plenty of restaurants, all trying to be unique in some way, maybe the entrance is decorated, the lamps are made out of globes, the chairs look like branches....diversity!!!and such original ideas, but also you can see a dinner will cost you half of your lifetime savings😂 and a simple homemade salad appeals to me much more.Jacob,my host, used his privilege of travelling for free with his app ZEGO,and we went back.I had a nice time talking, and a lot of laughs, and half past midnight went to sleep(yeah,5 and a half hours of sleep, that's gonna be fun)I woke up like a zombie, and now I am sitting in a fancy Carrefour-urban life, drinking cola zero, admiring Milan through the window (soon I will be able to go the hostel, eat and leave my stuff, maybe sleep a siesta, and then more walking around MILAAAAAN :D
